In 1985, Giovanny (Gio) was born  in the United States to Colombian parents in the neighborhood of Corona in Queens, New York. His parents  divorced when he was still very young, and thus he grew up between Queens, New York and Oakland, California. He grew up in a large, multicultural family whose members live across the Americas and Europe. Giovanny is trilingual and speaks English, Spanish and French fluently.

When he was 5 years old, his mother handed him a box of unused printer paper. Unbeknownst to Gio, this would be the springboard into his artistic career. He studied Fine Art:Computer Graphics at the New York Institute of Technology. Gio discovered his passion for animation nearing graduation, which led him to earn a  master’s degree in Animation at The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California.
